I recently sent a 9 dollar check to Etrade to close my account,but somehow my bank cashed it from Etrade for 900 dollars and etrade credited my account for the larger amount. Is it too late to put a stop payment on that check since it was cashed?

It's too late to put a stop payment on the check, but I would be high-tailing it to the bank! They'll have the canceled check so you can show them the correct amount. Then I'd be on the phone to etrade to have them fix the error on their end.

yes, since the check has been cashed it is to late to stop the check. if I were you I would run to the bank and try to get it worked out. You may want to call Etrade but without going to the bank first, you may be lead in circles. Hurry to the bank!!
