Scoop the hamster up in a small plastic bowl, like the kind you get when you get a pound of potato salad from the deli. Hold the bowl on it's side against the palm of your hand. Let the hamster sniff your hand, and be patient. Just keep it that way until the hamster crawls out of the bowl into your hand. Do that several times instead of just reaching in and trying to pick it up. That will also help it to get used to you and know you're not going to hurt it. (These were instructions I got from a pet store, anyway)

IF YOU WANT TO FEEL HIM OR HER WITHOUT THE GLOVES, YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR HAND NEAR HIM FOR AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES SO HE COULD RECOGNIZE YOUR SMELL, IF YOU WANT TO USE GLOVES DONOT USE PLASTIC OR RUBBER GLOVES. THEY BITE YOU MORE IN IT AND IT DOESNT HAVE PROTECTION, LASTLY WHEN YOU USE THOSE BLACK SNOWGLOVES DONT PUT IT NEAR THE BEDDINGS IF YOU DO THE BEDDINGS WILL STUCK AND WILL HAVE A HARD TIME TAKING IT OFF
