  • Neither, You dont want to accelerate thats just dangerous. If you slam the breaks thats even more dangerous. You want to slowly pump the breaks and when you maintain control of the vehicule again, you slowly accelerate, otherwise you will stall in that hill, and whont be able to go up.
  • hopefully you have practiced some winter driving skills already-maintain your speed and try to control your skid-if front wheel drive just keep your front wheels pointed in the direction you want to go-hopefully they will dig through and get traction if rear wheel drive you must counter steer--hope this helps-i grew up in vermont it is second nature to me now---good question-take two--smile and enjoy the day
  • never slam the gas but don't stop just take it slow and if you start to slow then give it a little more gas
  • Just ease off the gas pedal until traction is found again. Should the back of the vehicle veer to the left then steer into the skid - eg to the left and vice versa if the back veers to the right. Ensure both hands are on the wheel to maintain control. Don't pump the brakes on ice or snow - asking for trouble!
