  • Unless you are seriously ill or are a high risk group (asthma, compromised immune system, etc) I say wait it out. If you go to the doc and they determine it is the flu, they may be able to prescribe an antiviral like Tamiflu but it doesn't do that much. It has to be taken within 2 days of being sick and it only reduces the time you are sick by 1-2 days.
  • Stay home. Save your money.
  • If you have the flu the doctor really can't do anything and you could be brining your germs to other people. Stay in bed, take care of yourself. If it lasts too long or starts to affect your lungs, then give it another thought about going and call up first.
