  • I knew nothing about this, It has not been high on the news over here (UK) thats bad, I'll look into it more now I know.
  • Possibly because a lot of people whilst hating what the Japanese are doing actually dont like the way Greenpeace go about their business, there are better ways.
  • People rarely look at issues that effect things beyond the bridge of their noses. Society is too comfortable as a whole to get unanimously outraged at something unless it's "WON'T SUMBODY PLZ THINK OF THE CHLDREN OMGWTFBBW!!!1112!" The Sea Shepherd society probably quite literally contains the majority of people who give a damn - and those like me will donate and wait for their chance to get out there and do something.
  • The Sea Sheperds do have a good cause, but are you sure this was a hostage situation? From what I just read those two guys boarded the whaling ship without permission, got caught, and the Sea Shepherd left the scene forced the japanese to hold them for the two days it took to turn them over to the Australian customs vessel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Shepherd#Controversial_direct-action_tactics It's only a hostage situation when demands & threats are made.
