In actuality yes they have lost their meaning to everyone. In actuality, and in my beliefs, the term patriotic is something that we say to bring pride and glory in a vandalistic society. When we were liberating ourselves in the 1700's we burn, broke, and shot english property and people (soldiers and civilians) and we called it being patriotic. Now adays ANYONE does that its called terroristic in nature. And Family values we have lost many years ago, when I can go down to a pool or beach and see 13 year old girls wearing string bikini's to "get the guys" is just sickening. I won't say anymore because this is really a hot issue for me. If I have offended anyone I apologize now for it and hope you understand that these are just personal views.

I don't think that they have lost their meaning at all, it's just that the politicians are using the words incorrectly or in situations where the words possess far more energy and power than the politicians actions actually deserve. For example, it's patriotic to have the flag of your country flying over your house, but the word possess far more energy and power than is warranted by the mere action of flying a flag. Fighting and dying to defend what your country represents is also patriotic, and certainly warrants the use of the word. 'Family Values' is just a buzz term : / no one has ever given me a coherent definition of it that warrants it's use as a buzz term. To me, 'Family Values' just means that someone is in favour of creating a loving, family environment. In reality, it is an empty term that doesn't seem to have 'ever' really meant anything worth it's use as a buzz term. I see it's current method of use as similar to a politician going on and on and on about being a human, or being a citizen of the country he is a politician in... Of course it's true, but it's such a pathetically useless thing to be talking about : P ***** Honestly though, I hardly listen to what politicians tell everyone unless they are saying something negative. Most of them say things that they have no intention of doing, but when they say something bad, they seem to be quite honest with their intentions. I instead look at their track record, and in the case of an election between a new Prime Minister (in my country we don't have a President, instead we have a Prime Minister) and the currently serving one, I look at what our current one has done during his/her time in office.

seems as though some politicians are manipulating the meaning. the same thing is being done with, freedom and democracy and many others. people need to re-evaluate for themselves what they think these words mean and ask themselves if what is happening is truly carrying out such ideas. the masses seem to have been taken by a massive wave of brainwashing and well thought out rhetoric, that sounds good when you listen to it, yet when you stop and think about it. it isn't really taking place.
