  • Tell them to take you off their list. Legally, once you've said this magical phrase they no longer have the right to call you. Personally I'm a fan of the scene in 40-year-old Virgin where he pretends to be a telemarketer. Anyone else know what scene I'm talking about?
  • One time I said, "I must warn you that if you take part in this call it will cost you $250 per hour or part thereof. Do you wish to proceed?". Click. Another time I was studying for my upcoming maths test. When the phone rang and "Micheal" (why are they always named Michael?) started his spiel, I interdicted and said "I'd be very happy to buy whatever you selling, but first you've got to help me figure out this Fourier Transform". Silence, and then the spiel started again... "No, no. I need you to help me work this out first." After many attempts, he finally relented, saying "I don't understand what you want!" to which I replied, "And I don't care about what your selling!". I think I funked the maths test.
  • "Have you ever considered joining the Church of Scientology?"
  • ... from the movie, "Ruthless People" ... Danny DeVito is being interviewed in his office by some police when the phone rings ... "Hello ... who are you calling for? ... I'm sorry, she can't talk with my penis in her mouth, I'll have her call you back when we are through." ... hang up ... laughing, turns, back to stunned cops, "I just love wrong numbers." ... also works on telemarketers ... I have used it myself.
  • go to www.donotcall.gov and put your number on the list, also look around on that page and they give you some legal advice of what to do if you keep getting calls.
  • Tell them that you have a sick baby.
  • If someone calls you and tells you that you have won a free trip immediately tell them to mail you the tickets. Don't let up keep on saying "ok just mail me the tickets" So funny!!
  • I don't usally answer my landline phone unless I know the number. If I am not on my computer I let the answering machine pick it up, and they will eventullay get tired of talking to an answering machine. If I am on the internet, I use "phone tray" to zap unwanted calls.
