  • They don't. They are actually color blind. It's the motion that catches their attention.
  • they don't
  • it's not the colour. They are colour blind, and red colour is even their less attention than other colours. It could be somthing else that enrages them.
  • I agree that bulls are colourblind and do not hate red. The cape used by the matador is red only to hide the blood.
  • The color is not significant. Waving the cape around, as you see the matador doing, and the picadors poking and sticking them with those wooden spikes, is what enrages them. Then having someone wave the cape at them makes the bull chase it because it is something they can take out their pain and anger on. I don't know why red was chosen for the cape, but if it was any other color, the bull would still be angry and will attack because they are in pain.
  • 1) because they hate to be reminded of Red Bull ;-) 2) "A common misconception about cattle (particularly bulls) is that they are enraged by the color red (something provocative is often said to be "like a red rag to a bull"). This is incorrect, as cattle are red-green colour-blind. The myth arose from the use of red capes in the sport of bullfighting; in fact, two different capes are used. The capote is a large, flowing cape that is magenta and yellow. The more famous muleta is the smaller, red cape, used exclusively for the final, fatal segment of the fight. It is not the color of the cape that angers the bull, but rather the movement of the fabric that irritates the bull and incites it to charge. Although cattle cannot distinguish red from green, they do have two kinds of colour receptors in their retinas (cone cells) and so are theoretically able to distinguish some colours, probably in a similar way to other red-green colour-blind or dichromatic mammals (such as dogs, cats, horses and up to ten percent of male humans)." • bulls are colour blind i don't think they can hate the colour.
  • Have you ever seen a Bull in Red? It just doesn't look right...kinda makes their hips look big...you know what i'm talkin' about.
  • They don't, that's a myth. It's movement they're attracted to. They don't see colors very well (not totally color blind, but somewhere in the middle, I forget the term), so they don't react to one color or another as much as they react to motion. :)
  • They don`t understand any colours at all.
  • All colors literally have an aura. Red is the color of passion (anger, lust, etc.) and it entices the bull.
  • i read that they really weren't animals are colorblind.
  • Duplicate question
  • It's not the color that attracts the bull, it's the MOVEMENT of the red thing that it's running towards.
  • Maybe there not attracted to it at all, just offended or threatended by it..
