I have anxiety, depression issues, anger problems, ETC... I have been taking XANS since 1998. I am 30 now. Its hard to get them now because of all the drug abusers out there! People who have these problems have to put up with BS to get what helps them. When I first started taking them, honestly I did abuse them. My issue is that I can't get a script of them anymore cause of all the XANAX IDIOTS. People give them a bad rep, but its not the pill its the ones who act stupid while on them. So now im supposed to just sit here doing yoga & meditation exercises to try to help... And all those other anxiety medications that do not work for shit... GIVE ME MY DAMN XANAX!!!!!

I used to do drugs like oxycontin, norco, you name it i probably did it(including xanax) Now that i don't I will swallow or snort a couple xanax when I go to a function or have to work seeing as my mind goes a million miles a minute. I find it easier to chill out and have a couple xanax and relax. Yes, somtimes i get high off of it. And to be honest thats what I'm looking for, complete sedation of my mind. I like to escape reality for a few hours at a time and whats so wrong with that? I've been diagnosed as bipolar, depressed, among other things. But the underlying issue is my addiction to "complete sedation of the mind" Im pretty sure Im going to get a script, but wanted to check out what others have said to get what they want and maybe not so much what they need. Xanax is my vice. I love it. For those of you like me, let me enlighten you on what I would say... the doctor would ask, so why the visit? You would say somthing among the lines of... It seems like everywhere I go, everything I do causes me to panic. {that might sound a little professional and docs look out for textbook bullshitters} everything seems to pile up and I cant figure a way out. I get sweats and chills somtimes even. Its been to the point where I get so frustrated with all these thoughts I feel dizzy and get really tired. I don't know how to deal with this, I try exercise, and it doesn't work. I breathe more, it doesn't work. I've even prayed for an answer, and have not yet found it. Can you please help me. (And if you are bullshitting, play the part. Doctors eat bullshit for breakfast.) You may not get xanax... you might get ativan, you might get klonopin, you may even get counseling. So my answer to this question is clearly stated. Just for all you that will read this and say wow, this guy is a real dickhead for allowing people to actually do this. I am not. People learn based on experience. And I've got a lot of experience on bullshitting. Im not gonna sit here and justify that for you, but i will justify my taking xanax. I have back problems and Im 19 years old. it hurts to stand up somtimes even, I have hand tremors that somtimes will make me drop my fork. It sounds to me like parkinsons, but it is very hard to diagnose that. I even talk to myself. So allow me some instant gratification please. And you do you, and i'll do me.

That's not supposed to be the way it works. I thought you took a medical problem to dr and he used his skill and training to devise a treatment plan for you.

Last I heard, Xanax shortage is not a recognized medical condition

Definitly don't go in and say you need Xanax, that could be considered drug seeking behavior, and he'll never give it to you. If you really need an anxiety medication, maybe you should try something a bit milder than Xanax, like Klonipin, or Ativan. Something that won't cause you to black out, and embarrass yourself, or even hurt yourself..

I seriously hope that you really need this script and aren't trying to get it to get high.

But if you really need the Xanax then you need to see a psychiatrist to be properly diagnosed.

xanax is usually prescribed for anxiety, and panic attacks. Panic attacks usually involve : sweating, nervousness, vomiting, heart palpatations, paranoia, flushing.

Xanax is used for anxiety. I am not sure how you could convince a doctor that you need Xanax. I have bad anxiety and I had attempted non medical ways of treating anxiety first, but it was only getting worse which was leading to panic attacks. I don't like taking medications because I don't like the feeling that I have to rely on them to live my day to day life. I went to the doctor and talked to her about it and she put me on Celexa, which is an antidepressant but it also used for treating anxiety. I stopped taking it after a month because it made me very tired and gave me mild headaches. I guess it just depends on how bad your anxiety is, that a doctor will decide to put you on Xanax. My doctor refused to put me on xanax because she said that Benzodiazepines can be very addicting and when trying to lower doses you can suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms.

This is slightly off topic, but...

You really don't want to be messing around with benzodiazepines. They are great at first, but your body will quickly develop a metabolic tolerance and you'll need more and more. And then things will get truly bad bad crazy.

I'm not one of those Just Say No people. I don't care if you just want to get high. But honestly, you'd be much better off with vodka or heroin. Take it from someone who's been there and back many times.

If you have a legitimate need for benzos, just explain it to a psychiatrist. Go to several if you have to.

I was recently prescribe Alprazolam which is a G.E. brand for Xanax, My doctor only gives me 30 a month and they are a real life saver, but i wouldnt advise anyone to take this drug unless they have severe anxiety or panic attacks. I have been on benzodiazepines since i was 8 then weened of when i was 12 and after having a baby it brought my panic attacks back and of course by doctor tried something that wasnt so addictive but nothing seemed to help the insomnia except for the benzodiazepines. but my panic attacks arent frequet so they tend to last me awhile. just be honest with you doctor and if they are any good they will try to help you with you problem.

find a "pain medication DR" usually called family health clinics and wierd of the wall names....pretty much located in ghettos and nasty strip malls, places you wouldn't look for a shit hole doctor office.
anyway go in there...tell them you need them for driving, they'll tell you not to take them and drive....you say well i only take a little...one in the morning till i feel confident to start my day, then they'll look at you wierd and write you a damn script....i couldnt get them through a normal doctor either, i blacked out in blockbuster once( from a panic attack) and have blacked out other times as well, i get shakey and sometimes sweat, other times i just feel like i shot up meth, ppl and doctors have noted that it might be the fact i was on ritalin as a kid...no one knew the side effects back then. anyway thats one option...other then that....stop using drugs man, make your life better. stop being a loser and take some responsability for your actions...i hear about ppl getting f'd up and crashing, and killing all the time....xanex should not be taken lightly....i drank once with them and passed out throw up and luckly my friend was there to save me from drowning in my own vomit....i cant go out like that....im not a fucking rock star. be carefull

If you really need it just be honest and tell him what's wrong. If he doesn't beleive you find another doctor. I fired my doctor a few months ago because of his blatant lack of concern about the problem I was having. Got a new doctor...no problem.

Just say "I heard about a drug called Xanax. Do you think that would work for me?"

If not, you shouldn't use it because it can have some wierd effects on people that shouldn't be taking it.

On a similar note, I was taking an anti-depressant once, and although it was supposed to help, it made everything worse and I couldn't concentrate, so I just stopped taking it and all was better.

wtf vodka or heroin? that's the worst advice I've ever heard... yeah benzos can and will pull you into a downward spiral but shit.. if there is anything more addictive than benzo it is opiates and/or alcohol. If you really want to get high from a minimal ammount of benzo just have a beer or two with one. benzos are alcohol soluble and will activate it in your stomach and you'll be feelin pretty good.

You just need to be truthful with your doc. If there are external reasons explaining why you think you need to be medicated (i.e. spouse is being deployed, credit-card debt, kids, school, and etc), then they probably will give you something to calm you down and they will want to "watch" you closely while you are on the medication. This means that you will have many appointments probably over the course of at least 6 months until you are at the point where you can safely be weaned off. If you are just looking for a high, I suggest you consult your local street pharmacist and let our doctors do their jobs for the people who REALLY need them.

If you REALLY need it, you would know what to say to get it, you would just have to tell the truth, although, that sometimes isn't even enough. See, there's these idiots out there who think it gives them some kind of high feeling, that is ridiculous, as Xanax is basically a freaking sedative, it makes you tired, anyway, these idiots make it very difficult for people like me who may NEED the drug to function well in society to actually GET the drug. So tell the truth.

I just went in to the dr the other day to get my diet pills (phentermine) refilled and while i was there I told him about how bad my panic attacks have been getting due to a crime that happened to me a few years a go and the person that did this crime to me is getting out of jail soon... which is 100% the truth I also told him (which he knows) I have no insurence and I can afford to go to a counsler and I was just wondering if there is anything he can do to help I told him my old counsler "used to give me some pill that would stop my panic attacks and it helped mellow me out but Im not sure what it was called" I said this so I looked like I was not familar with xanax, he then prescribed me paxil and a 3 month prescription for xanax and I played along asking questions like "how will it make me feel?" I truly do not wont this drug to get high and I truly did have a horriable crime commited against me years ago but I did not want some anti depressant I wanted something to take the edge off when I'm having "one of those days" so yeah it worked for me!

I have had GAD since I was 18, and have been prescribed 2mg klonopin twice a day for the last 11 years. But if I were to attempt to try and get xanax, I'd tell my doctor that my anxiety has been uncontrolable ever since my boyfriend died in a car accident. The klonopin don't have the effect they use to, and take too long to feel......I can't eat, sleep, function at work, and i've stopped going out from alll the anxiety,
Now you have presented a clear case of extreme chronic anxiety. You will most likely get the xanax. Also explain you know you need therapy to get over the post traumatic stress, but you just can't deal with physical effects of anxiety. it's horrible to lie, but you asked for the truth.

i've had anxiety attacks multiple on multiple occasions. im 19, been to the doc three times for pills. my anxiety is so shitty at times i can barely funciton i kid u not. i asked for xanax, bad mistake. obviously. cant get the pills cause of dumb asses who take like 100 and od...

The doc prescribed me buspar. it made my head feel like it was on fire and didnt help for shit with my anxiety. i went back a few weeks later, they upped my dosage from tens to fifteens. didnt help... threw em out.

month later, went back they prescribed my cymbalta. again... it didnt work for shit.

my shoulders are always so tense my back hurts on and off everyday. my head sometimes hurts so bad it feels like i have a tumor.

it pisses me off that the doctor wont prescribe me a pill that actually works, because of the fact that it works to well.

if you want xanax good luck... you'll have to go to a psyciatrist

and to xanaxismine. im in the same boat u are

I have been a Registered Nurse for fifteen years now and I see people that come into the hospital all the time due to panic/anxiety attacks. They have no idea why/what is going one. I feel horrible because they have no idea what route to take that is going to help them out in the long run for their symptoms. I try to help people the best I can, but sometimes people really do not need any medication, they just need some counseling or psychiatric help. I highly suggest going through some kind of counseling before taking any medication, because most anti-anxiety medications are highly addictive.

Your goal is to convince your doctor that you panic everyday about normal things that most normal people wouldn't panic about.

    **KEY SYMPTOMS TO MENTION**
YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 4 OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS TO BE DIAGNOSED WITH ANXIETY

--Heart Palpitations (the awareness that your heart is beating forcefully, rapidly, or irregularly)
    --Sweating
    --Trembling
    --Shortness of breath
    --Feeling of choking
    --Chest pain
    --Nausea/Abdominal distress
--Derealization (an altered and unreal perception of things and objects around us)
    --Dizziness/Lightheadedness
    --Fear of going crazy
    --Fear of dying
    --Numbness/Tingling
    --Chills/Hot flashes

**KEY WORDS AND THEMES TO MENTION TO YOUR DOCTOR**

--I'm SO *anxious* and *worried* all the time!
--I get SO *stressed* out about everything that's going on in my life! (List 2 specific examples)
--I *panic* all the time and get *scared* for no reason!
    --When I *panic* or *worry*...(List a few symptoms above)...happens!
--I think about dying and I *panic*! (Do not say you think about suicide)
--Everyday my *anxiety* keeps me from functioning at work, school, ect...!
--I can't sleep at night because I'm so *anxious* and *worried*!
--I wake up all hours of the night *terrified*! (You feel like you're having a panic attack)

I have been prescribed to Xanax for seven years now. I have been diagnosed with Acute Anxiety Disorder (Anxiety and behavioral disturbances that develop within a month of exposure to extreme trauma.) When I was nine years old I was in a severe car accident, in which I was in a coma for two months. I also lost one of my close friends in this accident, when I found out, it caused me to have a panic attack. I wouldn't go tell your doctor you think you have this disorder unless you truely have recently been exposed to a traumatic experience. A more common anxiety disorder is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (A disorder characterized by chronic anxiety, exaggerated worry and tension, even when there is little or nothing to provoke it.) More than likely you can play it off like you have this disorder. Although I am very against illegal drug use, some people really do have a disorder, but just do not know how to go about explaining it. There are many doctors that will not hand out benzodiazepines, but if you can convince them you have severe anxiety, more than likely they will write you a prescription. If you dont get Xanax, you may be presribed to something just about as good like Klonopin, Valium, or Ativan.

**The most direct way to ask for Xanax, is to ASK FOR XANAX!!! Or at least suggest it, say a friend you know uses it and it seems to work, etc. Most doctors will pick up that you don't need it, you want it, and will not prescribe you with it if you go this route. In the event that you are confident your doctor will "buy this" then I would just go the easy route and say it straight up.**

***Hope this helps all of you who are not wanting this to get "Messed Up"**

You can't simply say, I have anxiety. My do has not listened to, I have severe muscle tension that stays like that for days on end, weeks on end and it helps me sleep at night. I can't tell them that I had taken Xanax for 20 years without issue or addiciton and I don't need it every day and I don't need more than one a day and.....I have done all of the above. Since leaving the doc that origninally prescribed it, I can no longer get a doctor to do so. I am on family doc 3 now and I even tried the GYN, where the scrip originated.
I have anxiety......you must be kidding. Nobody wants to prescribe this drug. Doctors do not listen any longer. They don't care. As long as physically you seem OK, they just give you anything else thinking they are appeasing you. Mine gave me Cymbalta. What a nightmare drug. And he just advised me this week that he refuses to prescribe me Xanax, will not say why. He has been fired.
.25 mg..really...in 20 years, if I was going to be addicted or do something stupid on the drug I would surely have done it by now.

What makes me mad is everytime somebody asks a question on the internet I see PAGES of self righteous people giving them hell over whatever the question was. Here is an idea...if somebody asks something....and you have a relevant answer that you are NOT looking down your nose while typing...then answer. If you are just going to talk down to them or offer counter advice....then dont answer. It really makes you look stupid and you need to find better things to do than troll around the internet trying to be a counselor.
