The number zero "0", has shown up on my caller id cell phone for over a week now. It is not 000-000-0000 just the single digit "0". I have answered it but no reply. Does anyone have the slightest clue who or what is calling me?

No, you can't tell. Sometimes that happens if the call is international, or if it's originating over Internet services like Skype. If you want to know who's calling, you're going to have to pick up the phone! :)

It is a blocked government number that is used primarily for scams and such. No one is sure who is on the other line but the best thing to do is stop answering these calls. If it becomes too harassing, talk to your phone provider.

After a few days of missing or ignoring calls from "0" I decided to answer one of these calls to put an end to the mystery. Nothing but silence for many seconds. Most telemarketers have a delay as they pick up from their auto-dialers and this was a much longer time with no sound from the originator of the call. I'm not sure what to make of it. Could be a scam in so many ways. If I find out it's legitimate, I'll re-post. Until then, I'm concerned that by answering, I may have let the caller know this is a live line. There are several similar posts here on Answerbag, where calls show up as being from 000-000-0000 or 111-111-1111. Another thread mentions 123456789, which is only nine digits, so I don't quite get that one. One posting I read claims it could just be the first of several numbers in an international dialing code. A reverse look-up shows dialing code "0" corresponds to Inmarsat, which is a mobile satellite provider.

OMG I thought I was the only one. I too have just received 2 phone calls like this tonight. One at 11:15pm, and the other at 11:28pm. Both times I answered and it sounded like a phone that was hung up by a cordless phone.

OMG my aunt died on March 11 and on April 10th i recieved a phone call at 9:49 pm from the number "0". I was with 5 friends in car and we all looked at the number and were confused so i answered it and It was someone trying to catch their breathe. As if they couldnt breathe, and My Aunt died in the hospital because they took off her gas mask. I was there to witness my aunt's death with 9 other family members. When i heard this I immediately started to cry and I asked "who is this??!!" and they jus breathed again really hard. I cudn't stay on the phone so i hung up. We tried to call back immediately but of course it didnt work and then 10 or so minutes later it happend again. This time as soon as i heard them breathe, i screamed with soo much anger "dont fuckin call me!" I dont know what happend that night. But if u know anythin more bout that number please let me know.
