Yes. We were on our way to visit friends in Laurel Canyon and decided to take the 101 and Hollywood Blvd. instead of the 210 and the 134 etc. It was very VERY slow, kind of fun to look at, with all the crowds, mini tour buses with people on the roofs, tourist-y storefronts, "attractions," and assorted gawkers - but we won't take that route again. At least it's cleaner than it was 10 years ago.

I lived there in 1965, during the Watts Riots. We could hear the shooting. It sounded like popcorn. We spent the whole week in our back bedroom and kitchen. The owner of the rental came over and put plywood across the front of the house. In those days, my father was a magician, and I was his stage assistant. We performed a couple of times at the Magic Castle.

I worked for KNXT (now KCBS-TV)as a temp a few decades ago. If you work or live there, it takes away some of the glitter of the place.
