I have answered quite a few questions of my own. Usually I would do this to either extend the question or present an answer that would help along with the question.

I think I've only answered my own questions twice. They were opinion questions.

if it refers directly to me i do just to clairfy something, so yeah iv done it a few times.

Anytime we ask advice we already know the answer well I would say 99% of the time but we we ask to get confirmation or we may just want to share in a round about way our troubles with people who will feel our pains listen to our problems not talk about us as some close friends do but keep it real and keep it moving I think it is great you clarified your answer here and it's great you learned your question actually helped someone else I think this happens often here best wishes!

I have answered 2 or 3 of my own questions but they were fun/conversational type questions. I think its kind of silly to ask a fact type question that you already know the answer to. If I did happen to find an answer to a question I just asked, I don't know if I would post the answer because then it would look like I didn't make reasonable effort to find out for myself before I posted it here (which would more than likely be the case in that situation). I look like an idiot enough already without additional fuel.

I have answered several of my own questions. What a lot of new ABers (welcome by the way) do not realize is that Qs and As were a way of building the knowledge base on AB back in the old days. For example, I really wanted a Mozart category so I asked for one and populated it to get it started (with both Qs and As). There are also Qs and As that appear this way because they were once glossary terms and not questions at all. Again, in an effort to build AB up. Qs were also not attributed to an ABer either, so there was no motivation to ask just for points. For the reason you stated is perfectly fine and kind of you to share what you found. Nothing wrong with that at all. In some of the "conversational" or social categories the Asker just wants to share so they will ask and then wait for responses from other ABers before posting their own. Hope this helps.
