Nothing last forever. Now that China is in the picture, presently being the 2nd largest consumer after us, that urban legend is becoming more true with time.

Although we do have plenty of oil we haven't even tapped here in this country. So yes there is and will be a shortage here in this country. So eventually we will have to open up drilling in Alaska, and the mid west, supposedly there is enough oil there for another 192 years at our current rate of consumption.

Its gotta run out sometime. With the amount we use each day, it's mind-boggling that its lasted this long.

hate to break the news but in the year 2010 we peak out our oil and from there on out the available supply gets less each year---the demand is increasing so while we will have oil for quite awhile yet it will quickly become more scarce and more expensive----smile and enjoy the night

There are many alternative ways to power a car but most would cost twice what it currently costs using petrol. Economically when petrol runs out the price will start to rise. Once it hits 4 times what it is today it becomes economical to introduce new technology which will bring the price back down to about double what it is today. The peak was supposed to have been reached in 2002 but we still have plenty of petrol so that is absurd and the figure has been revised out to 2010 and even 2020. None of these dates have any credibility and I am sure that it will get pushed back to 2050 as we approach these dates.

You don't have to believe it. Just stick around for another 20 years or so and you'll see it for yourself
