Depends on if you really want to date him. If you do and he smokes then take it slowly because quitting is hard. Tell him that you can't handle smoking for your own health and comfort, no one can fault you for that. Then pursue it, if he is willing to work at it he is worth dating if he can't do that for you then maybe you are better off not dating him.

I wouldn't tell him no because he smokes, I would be as gracious as possible and decline the invitation.

Wow, these answers are shocking. So much for liking a guy for the way he is. You haven't even started to date him and you already want to change him. I would say if you like him then go out with him, but let him know that your not happy with his smoking habit and that you would be there for him to help him quit, emphasize on the companionship, don't make him do it by himself.

No and perhaps learning not to be self righteous and judgmental is a better thing than giving up on someone merely because they smoke.

i would say yes to the guy if he is worth dating and being w/. if the relationship does come serious, then you can maybe ask him to stop, but while your still at the casual stage, i really don't think you should ask him to quite until it does become serious

If I liked the guy then I wouldn't care if he smoked or not. If I didn't like the guy then it would be the perfect excuse to say no without hurting his feelings too badly.

First I would tell him thank you, but I'm not gay. Then I would be upfront with the WOMAN, and tell her about our difference and see what he viewpoint on the difference is, she may be trying to quit or be very considerate.

i would nicely say, "You know...to be honest, I'm not a smoker and to me that is kind of a deal breaker. But look me up if you ever decide to quit...*wink*"
