  • Don't underestimate the power of that "piece of paper." You never know when it will come in handy.
  • To get $50k+ from you. It's capitalism baby! Higher education is selling you something just like everyone else does. And just like anything you buy, it may or may not have value depending on how you use it. The colleges want everyone to desire a degree, because the more people want something, the more it is worth. And they will advance the ideas that you "need" a degree to be smart or that you just can't be successful without one in order to stimulate demand. Some people have started multi-million dollar businesses with less money than it takes to earn a college degree. What do you think all these "honarary" degrees are about. The colleges want and need to make sure the smartest, most successful people out there have degrees to preserve the notion that having a degree makes you a smart and successful person.
