I remember taking a lot of things literally as a child. But this question actually brings to mind something I said to my own child! When in the car, he would sometimes get rowdy in his car seat. I would say "I have a long arm that's going to come back there and tickle you!". He always laughed, so I thought it was just silliness between us. He told me years later that he was always a little scared, waiting for the 'long arm' to emerge. i felt just terrible for scaring him!

I remember sitting behind my mom in the car and studying her hair to see if I could see her eyes. I did think there was a giant toad that lived in the water that would grab me and drown me. He was called the UnderToad!

oh yeah she did ....so did the old man ..lol and they always said they had eyes everywhere and knew when we were up to no good ...which was most of the time :)

I used to tell this to my son. I don't think it scared him. He is very inquistive, so I don't think he really believed me, but would try to figure out what I was really doing.

I poked her in the back of the skull, Three Stooges Eye Poke style, to check.

my grandmother was babysitting and one of my older siblings told me that she had eyes in the back of her head. i then stared at the back of her head incessantly trying to catch a glimpse of them. i found out a few years later that it was just a phrase. i was dumb. haha. :)

She told me that, but I didn't believe her. It was just a trick to throw me off, she was really reading my mind! lol.
