  • Because he's got something to hide. Something BIG. Even the CIA, with all the espionage and stuff wouldn't totally destroy documents, they'd just classify them for 40 years.
  • Because then the evidence of what he is covering up would still exist and be susceptible to leaks.
  • Because you can't prove what can't be proven. By destroying all evidence of who he's seeing, there's no proof of anything. If someone just happens to come upon this info, it can be used against him- but not if they don't exist.
