I keep it in case i need to return something

I always check my receipt. Just to make sure that i'm charged the sale price for items or, like what happened to you, that i'm not charged more than once for one item.

Yes, every time, it happens to me often at Lidl's and rarely at Tesco's but at least at Tesco's when I questioned it at the reception (not the till) they refunded me and gave me the item free :o)

I usually try to watch as they scan each item.

I keep mine as I also have been charged for items that I have not gotten. Also I keep them for returns.
-
I usually throw it away, although on occasions I have briefly looked to see if the charges look correct.

I watch carefully as they scan each item. I worked in a supermarket in college, and know that the items don't always come up as the price advertised. I have also all ready done a mental calculation of my items (as I put them in the basket), so I have a good idea of what my total should be before taxes. I do also reference my receipt when I get home.
