Sure, but it would be futile. A silencer fouls after a number of shots and ceases to work. With the firing rate of an M249, I would think that three 1 second bursts would do the trick. The SAW needs to be heard, anyway. Part of it's mission is for suppressive fire. Suppressive fire usually allows a squad or fire team to move while the bad guys have their heads down. If they can't hear it, the bad guys won't take cover.

It will foul quickly and will stop working effectively. It's not silent as the movies you still get a sonic crack. It allows swat to shoot in rooms with out ear suppression. the 22's are the best.
