A hopeless romantic is someone who in spite of either always being turned down or not being able to find someone truly compatible with them still gives effort into the attempt to find themselves a romantic connection.

I think it's someone who constantly looks for the fairy tale to come true (the prince charming and the like), those who want to be swept off their feet etc. But often miss out at the great chance in front of them because they are always waiting for the 'perfect' situation.

A "Hopeless Romantic" is one who in the face of unrequited love keeps an overall positive outlook on love and life. While others tend to become jaded in the face of relationships gone bad or in times when one's heart begins to beat for another and those feelings aren't reciprocated, Hopeless Romatics always see the brighter side of things knowing someone, somewhere out there awaits them whether in this life of the next.

A hopeless romantic is the person who spends their life waiting for their chick flick movie ending to happen, who reads 'Pride and Prejudice' and vows never to settle down until they have their own Mr Darcy. A person who romanticises life and cannot get enough of even the most cliche and heartbreaking stories, in the hope that it will eventually happen to them. However, all this gives them a jaded view of love and relationships and they usually end up settling for less, hence being 'hopeless'.

Most people say I'm one of those.

Most of the time, people equate words like romance and romanticism. I don't want to sound scholarly but the word romanticism has little to do with being romantic. Wiki says that the former is a philosophical movement that started in the late 18th century, which stresses strong emotion as a source of aesthetic experience. In contrast, romance to me, are little things like... little presents : when Pierre give stuffs such as chocolate and flowers (yeah, I know, it’s too conventional and mushy but I really dig things like this) is romantic. cards and notes : I also like receiving cards from Pierre of course, and friends too. (Not the very generic one where the sender writes your name on the greeting part and put his name after a quote written by hallmark, without even trying to write a personal note to you.) Gone are the days when people go all out in designing greeting cards – gluing and coloring. Now, technology does the art end even animation for us. For me, nothing still beats a heartfelt post it note. occasions : I really appreciate when people remember my birthday. Though I don’t hold grudges when people forget to greet me, I feel valued when my friends remember my special day. silence : though silence may mean different things to various people, and is even a source of miscommunication or misunderstandings; there’s something in silence, or the lack of words, that I find romantic. What I mean is, I like it when Pierre and I are together, hanging out but aren’t really talking. It’s not the awkward type of silence, but it’s more of a kind of peace and security, that despite the silence, we both know how we feel about each other.
