    It depends if you have an HD tv. When I got my PS3 it did not come with HDMI or Component cables. Without those cables you can only get 480p rather than 720 or 1080. But if you don't have an HD tv, you are fine with the cables that are supplied. Also if you have a home theater, you might want to look into optical audio cables. I have a 5.1 system that only worked after buying an optical cable. If you plan on using the composite cables, you will only get 2 channels, left and right.

    Also, if you plan on having more than one person playing, you will need to purchase a second controller. Buying a stand is also a good idea if you plan on leaving the ps3 standing up.
