  • Math doesn't fall naturally into levels. Geometry would make as much sense before or after algebra. But if you mastered every known type of mathematics, the next step would be to tackle unknown types of mathematics. There are many known problems that nobody has been able to answer. There are many new problems arising in astronomy, particle physics, and other disciplines where mathematicians are asked to create mathematical explanations for what is observed. If you're motivated, try tackling some of these!
  • My undergrad professor told me that the field of Mathematics has the greatest distance (learning gap) between classes and actual research. That means that research has advanced so far that the classes even at the Ph.D. level cannot quite get you up to speed. So truly, the learning never ends.
