If I was in Love, I'd tell my family to go to hell for being such racist idiots.
-
Personally, I would have no problem firing my family. Then again, they never really performed the "family" role in the first place...quite the opposite when it mattered. I have no clue what a close family is like nor what the impact would be of giving up that support structure...but I would suspect it would be a very high price that may or may not be worth the spousal relationship (that may or may not last...please consider the impact if the marriage fails as well...would you be left an isolated outcast? Is it worth the risk?)
-
If you really love the person & it was meant to be go ahead and marry; however, be realistic that for not only your family, but society as a whole, it's going to be difficult at times dealing with narrow minded people not only for you but for your children if you decide to have them. But you know what they say, " Love conqures all."
-
Well id have to say goodbye to my family for beng shallow minded racists, if i loved this person and wanted to marry him then i would, if they loved me then they should accept my choices
-
My family wouldn't have any problems with this. We have so many nationalities represented in my family, that one more would be very cool!
-
There is something you need to think really hard about. Hopefully...if you did marry..it would last forever. However, with the marriages of today you have a 50/50 chance..MAYBE. Now if you married and later divorced...who would you have left in your life? I mean your family said they would not accept the one you love and they are going to turn their backs on you. How do you tell your children that their grandparents don't want them in their lives? I think your family is totally wrong and I believe they should embrace anyone you love and want to marry. Your family needs to rethink their values for sure. These would be things that I would have to keep going over in my mind.

Once a family, always a family! So I would marry the dudet of different race!
-
I'd still marry
-
Tough choice. I've been very close to my family. In reality, they'd never have that kind of an attitude, but hypothetically... I think that I would go ahead and marry. Another person's flaws should not rule my life. If my family truly loves me, they'll have to learn to love my spouse, also. If they are incapable of doing that, then I honestly believe that they're losing more than I am.
-
If my family didn't care about my happiness anymore than that, so be it! I guess it would be an easy choice after they told me they wouldn't accept him and write me off.
-
if we were in love ...the family would get the flick very fast .... how dare they impose their bigotry apon my happiness ... who the hell do they think they are trying to lumber me with their backward thinking ideals
-
I know some people wont like this answer but this happened in my family. This is a phrase you need to think about: can the sun mate with the night? Trust me on this one...run away as fast as you can IF you want to keep a good relationship with family. My sister hasnt been home in 20 yrs because she refused to give up a guy and the entire family disowned her.
-
If your family's objection is due to bigotry, racism or feeling superior and thinking your beloved is inferior because of this, I would leave the "family" nest and never look back. We are all one race..if your family knows anything, they should know this. Thus they are rejecting themselves and their own history..that makes them quite ignorant as well as bigoted. Why would you want to be involved with such people? :(
-
No way my family would do such a thing, However as we are in fantasy land i would marry the person regardless
