Do you enjoy the aspect of AB that there are people that you can disagree with, but still get along with? I've had discussions with many here where we hold very opposing views, but we still get along. I really enjoy the mutual respect factor.

I do enjoy that aspect, but I've found, in my experience (and my... attitude level) that this type of conversation that you are describing, unfortunately is the minority. But, I do really enjoy it when it actually happens. It's like a rare treat, and the ones I've had, I've come out to be buddies with afterward.

I enjoy the comment feature where people can have honest and civil discussions with each other, and exchange opposing ideas. I wish it was always like that.

Mutual respect is important. It is refreshing to interact with people, not agree with them, and still walk away feeling like we're friends. Keeps the brawling at bay and limits the drama and that is a VERY good thing. See my profile. Refuse or diffuse tactic. Works lke a charm 90% of the time :) Great question!

Oh yeh - some very lively discussions - really gets your blood going - not lately I must admit, it's gone a bit quiet since Christmas... too much goodwill!

It's great to be able to agree to disagree. I have many threads where this happens, and I can respect and enjoy the conversations as well as the people.

Isn't that the point? If all you do is talk to people with whom you are in agreement then you have no opportunity to learn anything new, rethink your position or engage in stimulating interaction..in addition, it would be very boring. Of course it's nice to talk to people of similar views as well..but all the time? Yikes! :(

That's one of the nice things about AB. Just the fact that I can meet people of different thoughts or ideas is a good thing. That we can, with most people here but obviously NOT all, discuss these differences calmly and from all angles is wonder:-)
