The Patriots will have the seventh overall selection in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. The seventh overall pick comes from the San Francisco 49ers, who finished 5-11. The Patriots acquired the pick in a trade made during the 2007 draft. New England traded a first-round pick (28th overall) to the 49ers for a 2008 first-round pick and a 2007 fourth-round pick. It's ironic that they lost their own first round pick for the cheating thing but still have a very high first round pick. Everything seems to come up roses for those folks.
