That elephant is in deep doo doo. There's no fast way of extracting an elephant from anything including a lake.

make a big pile of peanuts on the beach and jump and shout by them so the elephant sees you and then sees the peanuts, by they cant they swim

Take a pair of binoculars, a tweezer and a milk bottle. Turn the binoculars backwards and make the elephant small enough to pick up with the tweezers, put in the milk bottle and bring to shore!

get on it's neck and ride it out. you steer them with your knees behind their ears. kind of like riding a horse i guess, only much bigger :)
