  • Your best bet is to see a professional... to go lighter you need bleach. I do not recommend doing that yourself.
  • there is a new line out by nice and easy, it is made for dark hair, and it will SOMETIMES lighten your hair. you will have to get a lighter color than you want though because it doesnt lighten as much as you would want it too. i have dyed black hair, and i used this stuff for a job interview (i didnt want to look so emo) anyway, i had to get almost a dark blonde to get it to turn out a medium brown.
  • You want to ''lighten'' your hair. You must first bleach your hair blonde and then dye it brown.
  • This depends first of all if the dark black hair is your natural hair color or if it has been permentally colored. Color will not lift color so if the initial color is not natural, then there is a whole different technique to be used. Although the color you want is dark brown, it is still lighter then black. So if you do this your self, remember that the outcome of the color will be darker if its applied to previous colored hair. I would go to a professional hairstylist, so that they can make the call based on an educated guess. I do know of great color brands, but they are professional color lines, that could only be purchased through a licensed cosmetologist.
