How do I get the smell of dye out of fabrics? I just got a tapastry and it's brand new and it has a strong and bad smell that smells like it comes from the dye, I've washed it many times but it still smells.

My prom dress smelled like dead fish when I got it home from the store. I hung it outside all day and then it smelled like a dog. But once I brought it back in and let it sit for awhile, it finally smelled normal. That might help your tapestry.

The smell is probably the formaldehyde which they use for a lot of fabric processing. I'm afraid that other than airy outdoors and exposing it for awhile, there is nothing you can do. I've had to leave some fabric stores because so many of their fabrics smelled that way. And it seem to seep onto other fabrics as well, just by being close to them or touching them.
