What is the origin of the phrase "useless tit"?

    It comes from the farming days where it was first noticed that both the male and the female genders in a given mammal species have teats but only one of them produces the milk required to nuture the young.

    For example, the teats on a cow are useful, but the teats on a bull are not. This gave rise to the derogatory slogan "He's as useless as teats on a bull," which eventually was shortened to "Useless Tit."
