My sister is diagnosed as bipoloar 2. She has lost almost all of her friends. Many couldn't understand her erratic behavior, and others just couldn't be bothered with her moods. It was deeply hurtful to her to lose those she needed most at a very difficult time in her life.

I lost every single one of my friends because of depression. I guess a positive thing is that I made all new ones after I overcame it. =)

Yes and is something that still hurts cause is not like i choose to have clinical depression, the good thing is that my true friends are still with me :)

Have and will again. It's a good weed-out process ☺

No it hasn't. My friends ..real friends all know my condition and respect the fact there is nothing I can do about my swings which are daily for me as I am rapid cycling mixed bipolar. Make sure the important people in your life understand your condition enough to not be offended or scared by your behaviour and hopefully they will be interested enough to read up on the subject and help when you are heading for an episode and always be there when you need them and not when you dont!

yea i am in high school now and i lost quite a few friends this year alone. mostly because i will get mad at them and just act like mean but still your friend if that makes sense. also most people dont want to have to deal with me so they just cut me out their lives.

I have suffered from bipolar1 for over ten years, and throughout the years, I have alienated myself from friends and family, (I guess the reasons are not relevant to your question), but on the positive side, all of my friends are very very good people, and most have come to understand why I have done the things that I have, and things are much better now. I have learned that it is very important to try to educate your friends and family about your condition so that they may try to understand what you, as well as themselves, are going through. Doing so can make all the difference if you have true friends.
