This has been going on for the past several months now. It's not that they don't care, but rather it's the fact that the moderators have been having major trouble from here and there. From the hundreds and sometimes thousands that the moderators receive everyday, it's hard for them to sometimes recognize the flagging process, especially when it comes to the duplicates. Sometimes, they just let it fly by, and other times, they believe that there may be a reason, and other times, they can't recognize the flags, due to the increased amount of flagging in the past months.

I have also noticed that some duplicate flags were accepted and others were refused, and I did not understand why. There is an authoritative answer from AB-Rich to the question "When should I flag a question as a duplicate?" here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/99401 However, this let still some points in the dark... For instance, if I asked those questions: 1. "Why do you think that many erroneous duplicate flags are accepted?" 2. "The AB-moderators have too much to do, or why do they take so many bad decisions by duplicates?" 3. "Once again, one of my questions was falsely rejected as a duplicate. [Reference]. Do you agree and why do you think they are doing this?" 4. "Don't you think that the moderators take a lot af bad decisions, particularly as duplicates are concerned? Why do they do this?" 5. "I am 13 years old, I posted some questions which were rejected as duplicates. I don't understand why. Why do they do this anyway?" 6. "I am a LDS LGBT and I don't know if I am pregnant. Why do you think that my questions are always rejected as duplicates?" Which of them would be a duplicate for your question?
