  • There is one port from the router which is the "upstream" port -- it is usually located separately from the other Ethernet ports. That port should be plugged into the cable modem's Ethernet port. Then you will plug the Ethernet port on the computer into one of the 4 peer Ethernet ports on the router. If all the devices are set up to default to DHCP (which is normally the case), you can then reboot everything and you should be good to go.
