  • If you are uncomfortable telling your doctor you are feeling a need for an antidepressant, then A: Find a new doctor, or B: Tell him or her you want to quit smoking and have them prescribe Zyban. Many local health departments pay for it if money is a problem. Zyban is also prescribed as an antidepressant under the name of Welbutrin. I took the free Zyban (prescribed for only ninety days) and never quit smoking, but felt better in general. And was more tolerant of my teenage daughter. So I had my doctor put me on Welbutrin.
