Would you buy a frozen bag of meat and vegetables to dump into a slow cooker? This idea seems to defeat the purpose behind using it.

    yes it does!
I think the whole point is to use what you have or be able to use less expensive cuts of meats and have them come out delicious. I think this frozen bag of meats and veggies idea is ridiculous!
Why pay for something thats easy (and cheaper) to do yourself!

I thought the purpose of a slow cooker was to cook a meal while you were out doing something else. It cooks for you, so you don't have to stand at the stove and monitor the food. It's a convenience tool, is it not?

If I have meat and veggies in my freezer, what's the difference if they come all together in one bag, or if I bought and stored them separately before dumping them into the crockpot?

Some people really have no cooking skills (or even an interest in cooking). If that bag of frozen meat and veggies keeps someone cooking and eating at home rather than driving through the closest fast food joint - then I say they're a great product.

I don't personally buy them, because it's cheaper to buy my own meat, and my own veggies, and dump in my own spices and whatnot - but they're better than fast food for those who can't/don't cook.

I just got one...it makes something that's easy...even easier. For a student like me (who doesn't have much free time) this is a perfect idea.

How so? I use my slow cooker that way at least once or twice a month.

I agree. It does seem to defeat the concept. Those frozen bags o' dinner strike me as pretty expensive too.
