The "check engine" light indicates that the engine computer has detected a problem with an emission-control related system. It could be anything from a loose fuel tank filler cap to a failed catalytic converter. Many auto parts stores provide a free "code scan" for OBD-II (1996 and newer) vehicles. You should probably take advantage of that. If the scan result is something like: P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak) Then it probably was due to a loose gas cap. If it's something else, you should probably have it diagnosed by a professional mechanic. Good luck.

most likely is would be the egr it's dirty a good knowleable auto mechanic would be able to clean it with small burts of carburato cleaner in the air line that goes from the brake booster to the egr. usually gets gunk when "miracle flushing" are gone to vehicles. good luck
