I'm assuming that your speaker system has a small jack similar to a set of headphones that plugs into a small port on the computer case. If that's true, then either your sound card is faulty or your computer is lacking the right drivers for the audio output. Windows doesn't care what kind of speakers are plugged into that port. All that's coming out of that jack is conventional analog audio signals.

i agree with the other answer, however if they are usb speakers then it's a different story. do both you computers have the same operating system on them? i know window xp needs service pack 2 installed to recognize usb 2.0 other wise is usually runs at usb 1.1 speed. maybe a driver update or installing service pack 2 if you have windows xp might fix the problem? but yeah i would see if there is a new sound driver avalible for your computer at the manufacture's website too. :-P
