I own a 13 inch Digistar TV with remote. Last night I dropped a water bottle on the remote. Now I am locked out of the channels. How do I get my channels back?

I have a 19 inch Digistar TV that a friend sold me and it will not receive any of the Rogers Cable channels. How do I change the setting to receive cable channels? all other Tv s in my house receive cable channels.

TV is a mitsubishi 1993 console. Dropped remote, then pressed a bunch of keys when caught. Now screen has large black square taking most of screen up. When you change channels you see a full picture and then back to square. Please advise all ways to fix.
