  • poor computer is tryin to kill its self lol
  • If your computer fully loads Windows, than starts a restard process you are looking at having an annoying virus. Since there are several different viruses that can cause this problem, if this is the reason for the restarting, you would be best off loading Windows in safe mode (using the F8 key before Windows starts to load will give you a menu with options like SAFE MODE) and than trying to scan it for viruses. If your computer doesn't actually load Windows, but restarts after the Windows loading screen, you could have a corrupt driver causing Windows to restart. If your computer were slow, you would see the error message, faster computers go through the error screen too fast. The best way to determine this would be to start in SAFE MODE and see if the same problem exists. Let me know what happens after you start in SAFE MODE.
  • Could be one of many things. You are not giving enough info. Does windows start loading, does it reboot during power up or after running awhile? Need more info.
  • Yes that sounds pretty bad and myself have had to deal with a computer C drive that was totally corrupted. If you are willing to spend $20.00 or so to let a computer repair guy check it out then you will get a solution and save more money in the long run whether it was an easy or a difficult problem.
  • I recently fixed my dad's computer that would restart at random. There are multiple causes. If it's a software related issue that's causing it, this could be determined by booting in safe mode and then work from there. Hardware issues are a little more difficult....Firstly, start off with the basics. Try a new power cord. If no luck, open the case and test the reset and power button (cables, connections and the switch itself). Check that all components are securely in place especially RAM, PCI, PCIE, VGA cards etc. If you have another PC handy, try booting it using the other PC's power supply. As it turned out, my dad's computer had a dicey power supply...
  • If it's not even starting in SAFE Mode, in addition to all these other fine suggestions it could be a processor gone bad from running too hot for too long. I'd check and make sure all your fans, including the one in the power supply and on the processor are working. Clean out all the dust bunnies too. Really recommend you have a professional look at it before you do anythng too drastic on your own though. Good Luck!
  • My computer also keeps rebooting itself after i tried to install a better display driver can u help.
  • Mine did that once right after installing Windows updates. I called them and it took about an hour on the phone with a guy but got it straightened out.
  • Not likely, if you can bootup safe mode then it's probably a buggered windows install or disk error. If you hear lond random clicks then your hard d rive is going bad usually. try booting into safe mode with command prompt and hit chkdisk /f It will take a while but then do fixmbr and then fixboot Restart and if still nothing then safe mode command prompt again and type bootcfg /rebuild The bootcfg utility will scan your hard drives for any Windows XP installations and then display the results. Follow the remaining steps to add your Windows XP installation to the boot.ini file. The first prompt asks Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All). Type Y in response to this question and press Enter. The next prompt asks you to Enter Load Identifier:. This is the name of the operating system. For example, type Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition and press Enter. The final prompt asks you to Enter OS Load options:. Type /Fastdetect here and press Enter. Take out the Windows XP CD, type exit and then press Enter to restart your PC. Assuming that a missing or corrupt boot.ini file was your only issue, Windows XP should now start normally. If this fails then it usually means a full windows reinstall
