  • You are not being the pack leader to both dogs. They sense a weakness and she is taking over for you. You need to be calmly assertive and don't pet them when they are in an excited stage or a nervous state. Never talk nice, or pet a worried or scared dog or one who is being aggressive. You are rewarding the negative. Check out the Dog Whisperer website for information on how to be a good pack leader. http://cesarmillaninc.com/
  • It's all a pack thing. You are the alpha and must 'tell' her that her behaviur is not acceptable. Gently grabbing her on the scruff of her neck (when she is being 'naughty') and giving her a shake and telling her 'NO' will get the message thru quickly as that is what their mothers and older pack members do to young pups. You MUST be the boss. She is probably feeling a little insecure as most rescue dogs have had it tough for a while and she is trying to find her place in the family. Make sure that you give both of them equal time and pats and cuddles and remember to be positive in accepting good behaviour and assertive in in your discipline of bad behaviour. Good luck and remember - above all be kind.
