In general, I'd like to make laws with respect to drunk drivers extremely tough. Since there is never any excuse to drive drunk (unless someone forces booze down your throat and holds a gun to your head), in all cases it is no "accident"..it is deliberate. First-time offenders, no one hurt, no property damage..lose the driver's license for one year with a fine of $1000 and future driver's licenses indicate that you were convicted of drunk driving. Second offense and your license is pulled forever. First time..anyone hurt, you get jail time..anyone killed, you get to spend 25 years in jail, no possiblity of parole. Some of these drunks are convicted over and over and over and eventually they kill. I'd also like pedophiles tossed in jail for life on first conviction..so there is no second chance. They don't get over it, they don't get better, they might get "contained"..too chancey. They are sick, they will always be sick, and they need to be taken out of society. :(
some states make you wear a helmet on a motorcycle, yes it is proper. but not wearing a helmet only affects the person on the motorcycle, not anyone else
In general, laws regarding "Consentual Crime" need to recieve some serious alteration.
From abortion to assisted suicide to drus use, laws put in place to "Protect" people from their own free will are an afront to civil and human rights, have created problems of epic proportions where there should be none at all, and for the most part, need to be changed as soon as possible.
I feel that its like of people awareness, or care that results in the laws we have now.
