Yes , though we call them week-ends , the end of our work week for many Hi Jodie -- + 5

Weekends. For me they are weekdays also, since I work them at least 25% of the year.

Well Saturday and Sunday are at the end of the work week (tho Sunday is actually at the beginning)..so they are known as the weekend. I think that they were seperated from the weekdays so that people have something to look forward to rather than just another week day. As you have probably figured out by now...I haven't a clue. ;-)

Many, many years ago when we were in the caves,we worked Monday through Friday, everything closed on Sat and Sun. These 2 days were for the family and their activities together. Then some greedy Scoorge decided he would stay open, his business friends fast became jealous of all the extra money he was making and they started staying open as well. That my dera childern is the story of the fall of the family and the rise of the corperate giant!!!!

OK, I'll answer with a related question, you have five fingers on each hand don't you? Well, how come one of them is a thumb? Huh?

Ok, I agree with Patti Jo, Saturday and Sunday are the weekend. However, Sundays is the beginning of the week and Saturday is the end of a week. There are 7 days in a week as we all know. It is just that Monday - Friday are the normal 5 days of a typical work week. I work from Saturday to Wednesday nights, so my weekends are Thursday and Friday. It is just the way the calender is created.

Does anybody else think of weeks as blocks? Like Monday - Friday are big blocks, and then Saturday and Sunday are smaller blocks! Does anybody else get that mental image....anybody??? Anyway, to answer your question...yes, Saturday and Sunday are part of the week, but we call them weekends because, well they are. Now if you look at the week as a straight line, you will see that Sunday is on one end, the beginning. You will also see that Saturday is on the other end, the ending. Hence the name "weekends!" I don't know if that made sense or not!?!

Good question, Jodie. Maybe we think of weekdays as "work" days and "weekend" as end of the work week? Just a guess. I never thought about it before! Happy Sunday! :) ((hugs))
-
yes they are.
-
Good question. If you go back far enough you might find that Sunday was considered an ordinary weekday and the first day of the week.
-
Good point. Never looked at it that way before. Thanks. :)
