  • People need something to hang on to, something to believe in, something to answer their questions. Religion takes care of all of that.
  • Why not ?
  • Faith is something awesome and intangible. I guess you could say, it's a personal relationship with Christ. That should be hung onto. And I'm sure He doesn't care where you worship him, whether it's in your head, your yard, some fancy church, or at a friend's house. As long as you accept and respect Him. Ya know?
  • Religion provides a sense of hope and security for those who don't believe in themselves.
  • Some people have perceived that there is something beyond the material world, while others might just have been brought up in a religion and never questioned it. Then a lot of those people want a framework to believe in, to define what's beyond the material. In the hands of an organization, like a church, which can easily approach being a bureaucracy, this can easily devolve into just a bunch of rules and doctrine and ceremony. I personally distinguish between such "sets of beliefs" that I define as religions, and what you might call "spirituality", which is the inner practices which lead one to knowing one's Oneness with God / Allness / Oneness.
  • Fear, lonliness, a need for purpose...many diferent reasons, and not all negative. Im not a big fan of religion. I am spiritual, but not in a way that many christians would understand. I have moral values, love without condition, work to better myself and to find happiness not just for myself, but all who i know; I try not to allow my desires, worldly or otherwise, to negatively interfear with others; i give all i can when i can and greatfully accept whats given to me. I choose no religion because there are very few universal truths; and to allow an entity to create and enforce a universal truth unto such a diverse people only discourages healthy and natural growth.
  • Possibly religion originally developed out of peoples' attempts to understand how the world works, what the rules are, what is consistent and constant, why things happen as they do. I think it's just a way to understand life, purpose, and answer the "whys".
  • For those who need it.
