It means that in times past people relied on themselves. They lived a hard life and worked hard every day to provide for their families. They had bad times which are a fact of life and did not complain, they just worked harder. They had a deeply felt surety that if they worked hard and trusted in God that everything would work out. They did not expect others, including the government to provide for them. They understood work ethic, morality, principles, and family are what life is about. Beginning in the 60's, (as great as the music was), there began a mentality, largely triggered by "The New Deal" that the government was supposed to take care of everybody, that hard work was not necessary to succeed, that just being a citizen was all you needed to be, if you did not have enough the government would take from those who had "too much" and give to you. This resulted in a warped tax system and a warped mentality. The wealth that was created by all those hard working people has been being re-distributed ever since. The curve has been accelerated dramatically by nearly 20 million people who are not in the country legally who have been extended the same benefits. Something must change or all that our forefathers fought, died, sweated, bled, and prayed to create is lost. Sorry to be on soapbox but I am fairly disgusted with the pussyfication of America right now. I wish all the bedwetting liberals would wake the fk up and realize it is not the governments job to take care of them, there ARE people in the world who will kill them in a heartbeat, and it is not everyones birthright to get a government check. Nothing is free. I keep hearing about "free healthcare", "socialized medicine", there is no such thing as free. I want to spend my money how I see fit, not how the government thinks it should be spent. I want to save my money to send my kids to college, not have it taken as taxes to pay for health care for people who are not even in this country legally. I am compassionate but I should decide what needy causes my dollars go to if I choose to donate to charity. The government has no right to take my hard earned money and re-distribute it. Too many people do not understand what the United States of America was founded on and became great because of. The are intelligent people with a great deal of book knowledge, but a warped sense of reality. It comes from too many people sucking on the public tit too long and passing it on to their children. What is today "Liberal-Progressive" is so "anti-American" it makes me very very sad.

I don't believe it. We still are one of the toughest countries in the world and the American mindset is usually a gung ho forward mentality and never afraid and unwilling to back down from a fight. Even our non-heterosexual members aren't afraid to stand up for their right and I feel that it is in the overall mentality of the American to stand up for their rights no matter what their walk of life may be.
