The adrenaline they release into their bloodstream gives them energy, energy they use partly by increasing the volume with which they speak.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with making themselves seem bigger. You know how in the wild, many animals will do things to look larger to scare off an enemy. (Puff up fur, or puff up feathers...things like that.) I wonder if humans get louder to seem more fierce.
