  • Some websites don't properly configure favicons, the little logos you see on the left of the address bar.
  • It depends on what kind of favicon format they have saved. If the favicon is not located in their root directory it won't show in favorites. Some .ico files have different size formats all bunched into one file. If you try to save one on your desktop that doesn't have the larger sizes in the file it usually won't show. Also, sometimes you have security settings on your computer that prevent the saving of image or other files from the internet to anywhere except your temporary folder.
  • Further to Auzzigob's question, I have the same problem, except that sometimes the favicon does show, and sometimes it doesn't. Certain ones always show, and others tend to default to the explorer icon. When I click on them, though, to access the website, they then turn into the favicon. They may stay that way for several days before reverting to the explorer icon, and sometimes I'll power on and find several favicons where I usually only see explorer icons, even though I may not have accessed the website recently. Why is that?
  • Also you will lose certain icons from websites everytime you delete 'temporary internet files'.
  • I had this problem and it is annoying, yet when I used a friend's pc it worked ok. However, I have found that if you upgrade your IE to version 8 this cures the problem
