Help answer this question below.
The daughters of Mr. Lutz, who said the house was haunted, came forth to reveal it was all made up. The father still insists it was real, but I believe the daughters.
The murders did happen, but the hauntings I doubt.
its haunted....some dude killed his family at 3:18am and any man who lives in it after him get possesed.......[edit] The Amityville Horror
Main article: The Amityville Horror
Amityville is best known as the setting of the novel The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson which was published in 1977, and has been turned into a series of films made between 1979 and 2005. The story of The Amityville Horror can be traced back to a real life murder case in Amityville in November 1974, when Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot dead six members of his family at 112 Ocean Avenue. In December 1975 George and Kathy Lutz and their three children moved into 112 Ocean Avenue but left after twenty-eight days, claiming to have been terrorized by paranormal phenomena produced by the house. Jay Anson's novel is said to be based on these events but has been the subject of much controversy. The house featured in the novel and its film versions still exists, but has been renovated and the address changed in order to discourage tourists from visiting it.
The violence of the DeFeo murder worked its way into a song entitled “Amityville” by Eminem on the The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000. The song refers to an ironic nickname for Detroit, Michigan and has nothing to do directly with the New York village.[4]
Apparently several families have lived in the house since the "events" and nobody has had any problems at all. Personally, I'd be scared to death to live there! lol
Some crazy dude killed his family.
The Answer is not a Mystery as some would believe but to know for certain what the truth is you must be impartial.

"The daughters of Mr. Lutz, who said the house was haunted, came forth to reveal it was all made up. The father still insists it was real, but I believe the daughters.

Total lie. All 3 of the Lutz kids to this day claim it WAS real. And for the record, there was only one girl and two boys that were alive at the time.
it is unsure what is true. there is evidence stating that it is true but there is an equal amount of evidence stating that it's a hoax. It is up to you to search real info and make your judgement. I would avoid amityvillemurders.com because Ric Osuna stated a lot of "facts" based on no or questionable evidence. I would check out amityvillfaq.com or amityvillefiles.com
SA writer, you are a moron.
first of all, both DeFeo boys were not teenagers.
Second, George was never friendly with Webber.
Third, again, you are an ignorant moron.
you entire post was not only libelous, but also a bunch of complete BS.
From what I have read…
Honestly speaking if to this very day in time there are families living in the house and have not experienced anything unnatural then why would the house have been haunted years ago?
Puzzling right? Well some centuries back the town was used for hoarding dead bodies, so why did writers not title it the Amityville ghost town….ever wonder there are pictures posted on the net showing real ghosts of small children taken in the very same house, but when the Defeos died all there kids were in there teens.
Then the Lutz family moved in getting Father Ray also known as Father Mancuso in Jay Anson’s book (The Amityville Horror) to pray for the house, Mr Lutz report to the media was that father Mancuso on leaving was plagued with a whole host of paranormal happenings and during his blessing in the house. When media had contacted Father Mancuso he reported that he felt negative energies but nothing of What Mr Lutz described to the Media….well Rodger Defeos Attorney Mr Webber and Mr Lutz were thick buddies on the occasions when Mr Webber and Rodger would hook up over drinks and make up horror stories based on the very same house the Defeos were shot to death.
This was all a money scam.
But what’s on my mind is that if Mr Lutz did it for the money which he gained from suing the media for not believing his Lies then why would he have fled the house with intentions of making a home for his family no family man in there right mind would do that, leaves me wondering maybe it was haunted to some degree..
Personally I would only believe the Lutz if I experienced it myself by staying there, truth be told I would jump out of my skin if I heard a voice say “GET OUT”
