I think that everyone has their branch of knowledge. It doesn't look like 1 person could be the whole tree. Yet some great knowledge people are known greatly for their knowledges. Galeanda for cooking & animals Kevin for Entertainment Firebrand for Answerbag branch Auntie Em for relationship advice. Jervinator for Autos Glenn Blaylock for Science Stableboy, for just being good. =) (I didn't know what to put on this one.) And many more. I think the experts category plays a vital role in Answerbag. Basically, whoever has the expert title of a main category knows high knowledge in that specific category and many sub-categories that fall into it.

Anyone that has the skills or knowledge needed to find out the answer. My Dad told me many years ago, that in Business, 'It is not what a man knows that makes them valuable, it is if they know how to find out the right answer or course of action needed to solve a problem'.

It would be hard to say for much of it is opinion,we all have knowledge though very few will be mentioned in these answers as experts.I have a hard time pointing out whom appears to be the best at anything for everyone unmentioned is left out, like in a popularity contest.Of course this answer will be at the bottom for appearing to rain on someones glory.

Idne. Today she's an expert in twenty categories, but the number is usually higher. And from personal experience, I can tell you, she can talk fairly knowledgeably about a wide variety of subjects. UPDATE: Now she's an Expert in 24 categories. She knows a LOT.

Old School, definitely! He reads everything and devours the information and can analyze it and see if it makes sense and then accepts the part that does and figures out the part that doesn't make sense and why! :) Your question is of course limited by the amount of interaction an AB member has...someone may interact very little and be the most knowledgeable..someone who interacts all the time and looks up stuff all the time would have an apparent advantage.

There are many intelligent and worthy, wide-range-of-knowledge people in here. That said, the fact that Firebrand, Kevin and Galeanda are way up there is no fluke. Just check the "Expert In:" profile for each of them.

I have to say two. Glenn Blaylock and I am Alec. Polar opposites politically but both are sharp and seem to be full of knowledge. Sometimes I think Alec is full of something else but that is another subject. LOL. I can tell by their answers that much of the information they share comes from their own gray matter, not google. They both impress me often.

I don't think there is just one. People are good in different subjects. So we have Firebrand,Stableboy,Kevin,Galeanda,Idne,Pattie jo and many others. Check out some profiles they will amaze you.

Jerv - Autos Glenn Blaylock - Science I admire these guys because you can't just google up the things that they know. It's so easy to copy paste stuff from Wikipedia or somewhere else. These guys really have something between their ears. Just a word of caution: Don't be deceived by the "Expert In" that you can see on the profiles here. Of course, users who have been here for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong period of time would have more of that than those who have just arrived.

Andy has a lot of categories, and she doesn't seem to me like the kinda person who doesn't know what she's talking about, so I'm going for her. :) Philosopher Saint sure has a lot of categories in the philosophy section and a lot of other ones, and just with the comments he and I often exchange, I know he definitely knows his stuff. I always have to look stuff up whenever we talk. XD
