  • They are dark green vegetables with leaves that come to points.They have hard leaves and look something like small cabbages. The best way to cook them is to boil them and then peel off the leaves.They taste pretty good.
  • artichokes are a green vegtable with many pointed green leaves. They are quite delicious. My favorite way to prepare them is boil them for about 10 minutes. Then pat them dry take some breadcrumbs add to the breadcrumbs a few cloves of finely chopped garlic some chopped basil parsley and oregano some freshly grated parmesean cheese and some salt and pepper. Mix it all together then take a handful of the breadcrumb mixture and sprinkle it over the top of the articoke tap the artichoke down a few times to be sure all the breadcrumbs get between all the leaves take the artichokes and place them on a cookie sheet or in a roasting pan drizzle some good quality extra virgin olive oil over them and bake at 350 for aboout 15 minutes or until breadcrumbs turn a nice golden brown.
  • Artichokes tare tastey, I thought they looked wierd the first time I saw them. The best way to eat them is boil it about 15 min, in a seperate pan melt a stick of butter. I know fattening but its good. Take a leaf of the artichoke and dip it in the butter and enjoy but you don't eat the leaf you only grind with your teeth the inside part of the leaf the other part gets thrown away.
  • I've never tackled a whole artichoke before. I usually get jars of artichoke hearts and add them to salads or even on pizza with mushrooms and onions. They are delicious!
  • I love artichokes, one of my favorite things to eat. The hearts are awesome, creamy almost like butter. They are a green globe with spiky leaves or petal around it. You can eat the flesh off of those and gt down to the heart at the top of the stems. The photos are a whole artichoke, a halved one showing the layers, and the heart cleaned off.
