  • Even if you were getting the color done at the salon, they would dye it first and then cut it. I don't dye my hair, so I don't know why this is, but I'm guessing the ends of the hair are most susceptible to damage from the processing.
  • to kill it while still looking healthy.
  • well, as I color mine to cover gray, and my natural, dingy color...if I didn't color it first, I'd have some ugly two-tone hair. I'd have to color it right after before I go out in public! I do my own color, as my hair grows so fast I can't afford to pay salon prices (every 5 weeks!).
  • Because the dye damaged the ends?
  • at hair salons they dye it first because hair has to be dry when you apply dye to it. and hair has to be wet when cutting it. so it makes the most sense and saves the most time to do it that way. if they cut it first they'd be washing your hair, cutting it, drying it, dying it, and then washing it and drying it again. but if you're doing it YOURSELF you would obviously have enough time to do it over a couple of days, and could therefore save dye by getting it cut first!
