Probably not for awhile, to much hardware for DVD's and CD's, not to mention software developers are all geared to this. Although I imagine it will come.

Maybe, but I don't see it coming for a long time. I cannot imagine what would be the next thing to replace dvd's since they are really easy to use. Unless there is something to come out that makes better sound or picture quality, I can't see a reason to make anything new.

dvds were outdated a long time ago. cds were outdated before dvds.

I remember in the UK in the 80's there was this huge fad for this new system (which i cant remember the name of) so everyone got rid of their normal video players and bought these new things, then pretty soon that company went bankrupt, so everyone had to switch back to the original video players. So I suppose, they could do, and I have no doubt they will go out of fashion in no time at all.

one day. one day it will be all stored on iPod thing devices. But i hope dvds dont go out too soon. Its a good thing that i dont own so many dvds

I'm hoping for a better dvd . I have alot of problems with scratches.........kids

They will most likely be around for another year or two at least. Blu-ray is around, but it will most likely be in the position where it will be the secondary format for a while. DVD will eventually be phased out in a similar fashion to VHS, but not anytime in the near future.
